Refurbished Clubhouse Opening

On Sunday 27 November 2016, Doncaster Tennis Club was privileged to have some important guests in attendance at the Official Refurbished Clubhouse Opening.

Club President, Mike Hindson welcomed all special visitors and club members and introduced Cr Anna Chen from Manningham City Council.
Anna spoke about Doncaster Tennis Club as a multicultural club and talked about her experiences when she first came to Australia.

Cr Dot Haynes, also from Manningham City Council, admitted that being a basketball mum she didn't know very much about tennis. She did mention though that Wimbledon winner Pat Cash had played at Doncaster Tennis Club in the early 80s. She emphasized that local council was there to support community initiatives.

Australia's number one deaf tennis player, Stephen Swann and cochlear implant recipient spoke about the fantastic job Doncaster Tennis Club has done with the inclusion of the deaf tennis coaching program.

Heath Davidson, Rio Paralympics tennis doubles gold medal and Australian Tennis Award most outstanding athlete with a disability winner remarked on the excellent condition of the courts at Doncaster Tennis Club.

At long last, the ribbon cutting ceremony began. With special guests standing on either side, Mike Hindson cut the official ribbon and hereby declared the Refurbished Clubhouse open for all to enjoy.
