Being a ballkid was heaps of fun

In January 2015, I was fortunate enough to participate in the Australian Open as a ballkid. I got to see many parts of the Australian Open and many players.
I had a lot of fun being part of the action.
In March 2014 I attended Level 1 Trials, I then got through to Level 2 Trials. After this, I was invited to be part of the Train on Squad. This was when we went to various training
sessions learning how to roll and serve balls and present towels.
I was very happy to be selected to be part of the Ballkids Main Squad. We were given our accreditations and uniform and then we were set to go.
Last year there were around 380 ballkids who got into the Main Squad. A team of six ballkids are placed on each court. We get rotated on every one hour or 45 minutes depending on the heat. I really enjoyed being so close to the players.
Being a ballkid was heaps of fun and I feel as if I have learnt a lot. It may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I highly recommend giving it a go.
